I’m no good so they say
You could give her the world
And she just gonna throw it away
Well, that maybe true, but I am nobody’s fool
And I’m gonna beat you to the punchline
Have fun doing it too
Know I’m gonna get there even if I turn black and blue
And as blue as I get, I ain’t never gonna quit
So, don’t you pity me, I don’t need sympathy
To cause needless atrophy, mainly, well, I just need a little peace
It’s really not that hard to read, so why don’t you go on and take a little look
And I’ll show you, I’ll show all of you
I didn’t do what they told you, but I got there, too
What I’m trying to say is
Don’t listen to all them, holdin back ain’t no way to live
So take a chance on me and I can’t promise you nice things but possibilities
A little regret I can live with but not even tryin is guilt I can’t rid
So, come on give it your all tonight, such a sad face it’s a horrible sight
So why don’t you go and take a step outside? I’d be very much obliged
And we’ll show em
Yeah, We’ll show all them
Everyday we are breathin
We are happy to live
Mmm..
Cheer up all you callus faces
Little bit of want goes so many places
And we’ll go
And we’ll try
And we won’t never be afraid to die
This is a wonderful album. It is personal, senitive, and caring. I love to here Sturgill sing, and wish had found him earlier. I thsnk wnku for playing local artists. I lived in Jackson Ky. And know how sad the drugs have made so many hometowns. Keep singing you are great. carolfaulkner
The best I've heard from Steve Earle in a while. The songs have a subtler, earthier tone, tastefully rendered in authentic sounding country/blues/bluegrass stylings. 'J.T' reminds of earlier records like 'Feel Alright' or 'Train a Comin'.
Deep grief, love and compassion is felt on the final track, the only composition from Steve, seemingly written for his son. The rest, composed by JT, do confirm what a great songwriter he really was. tideracer
A slow drip of Tropicália-infused psychedelia from New Orleans rock outfit Blue Basin: balmy one moment, aggressive the next. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2022
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
